Anyone been doing any fishing lately??

I have. I've been terrorizing bluegills at a local park. It's not quite trout season here in SW Pennsylvania and so far the year's been unseasonably cold and most of the lakes/ponds have only thawed out in the past week or so. Last week, I had taken my 10 month old little girl for a walk around the pond in her stroller and I had spotted a decent pod of bluegill staged around a deadfall. As luck would have it, I had the 3wt that Rick Koontz had built for me a couple of years back in my Exploder, i got my gear and Kaitlynn and I headed back to that spot. I must've C&R'ed close to 20-30 fish that day on a blue dun caddis beadhead nymph. I went back the next day and C&R'ed about the same amount of gill's and one nice sized crappie. Luckily the fish are only 15-20 feet out and all that is required is a roll cast (trees & bank don't allow for anything else anyway) followed by a 10 second count down and a lift of the rod tip. When you lift, you either have a fish on or your recasting. The take is virtually undetectable, I think I've noticed 2 takes out of all those fish caught. The bonus has been taking my 6 yr old daughter, Sarra, out and watching her catch fish on her own with her own Cortland Youth Fly-Rod.

So, YUP, Jimi, I've been fishin' and even catchin'!!!

Tight Lines!!
