Murf, I caught it on a 'BMB', a.k.a. 'Bite-me-bugger', a.k.a. brown mohair leech, w/copper conehead. (I sent these very flies out in a swap awhile back.)
Funny thing was where and how I caught it. Someone had just trampled through one of my favorite holes while fishing unproductive water outside. I waited until he trudged on and after five or ten minutes walked softly down to about 10' from the edge of the shore and fished right through the spot where he stood, which was a deep little run right at the edge. On the second cast that fish swirled my line and I set the hook. I compared 'her' to hen browns I had caught (by memory) and this fish was much sleeker and again had almost no color, whereas the hens browns I caught before were golden-brown over yellow-orange. Browns usually fight deep (my expeience anyway) but this fish was all over the surface and cleared the water in leaps at least 3 times, more like a 'bow. Spent too many years as an aol member and they had some neat stuff but I'll be darned if I'm spending $24 a month for dial-up. Adelphia is my ISP but I don't like their mail at all, I love gmail so if anybody wants an invite to join for free, let me know, my Outlook program is very unstable with my biz addy so I use gmail mostly, and the @yourbusinessdoor.com is a brand new one through Network Solutions which seems to have some cool options all around but I'm still getting used to using them. Speaking of fly tying, what fly did you catch this mythical beast on oh creator of the atoms which combined carbon and iron to create the hook which found grace in your eyes to create the chicken. You had help though! I hear one of our secret list members had to breed the chickens to develop appropriate traits to lend itself to tying the fly. I tried. Your return does not contain your email address. You're such a renegade. Yeah, I know, my major was forest science but I did spend plenty of time in biology labs.
