Dave, i tye with beads a lot, and i've never had any problems getting the 
bead over the bend. Just smash down the barbs. Basically that's all you need 
to do. Maybe your trying to get a bead on the hook that is to small for that 
hook. I use Daiichi and Gamakatsu hooks because i get them for free. I would 
continue to use them even if i didn't. And i am not paid to say that. mark

Mustad 79850  1/8' bead worked on size 12 had to drop to 3mm for size 14. 
If you are looking for weight more than size tungsten beads may work.
