I was just noticing that this illustration has the material being
passed through the loop six times. That's unnecessary. For most
leader connections, I do four times through the loop on each knot. If
using 6x-7x tippet, that can be expanded to five winds on a side.

Personally, I love using a double uni knot for all my line to leader,
leader to leader, and backing to line connections. Works easily,
dependably.
Here is a link to an illustration of a double uni knot.

When you finish step #3, just flip the materials over and tie the same
knot using the one free end of material. I can do this easily wearing
fingerless gloves in cold weather. One advantage of this knot over a
surgeon's is that you can easily tie two long materials together,
where with a surgeon's knot you always have to repeatedly pass half
that material through a loop.
Wet the space between the two knots and pull snug. Trim the tag ends
close to the knot. The illustrations show oversize tags for clarity,
but you don't want the ends to stick out that far.
I have used the space between the two knots to trap yarn indicators.
I have also threaded on a glass bead on one of the strands between the
two knots to act as a small weight. Versatile setup.
Give it a try. It is a simple, effective solution for
leader-to-leader knot problems.
