Way back when I was in Forestry school at Auburn, when we went to the
woods in Spring, Summer or Fall, we always wore long pants, and
long-sleeved shirts. We dusted our socks around our ankles, waist of our
pants and cuffs of our shirts with Sulphur. This was powdered sulfur
which can be bought in any lawn/garden shop. We never got chiggers or
ticks and as I remember, the mosquitos didn't care much for the sulfur
either. I know you ladies will say "sulfur smells". Sure, it does, a
little, but you get used to it, and it's a small price to pay for comfort
when in the woods or on the stream. And, it washes off easily when you
shower.
