Afternoon folks, well, first "Catching" trip out this year.
Theresa and Amanda decided that "WE" were going on a picnic and that I
was going to fish. Well lets not call it fishing, lets call it "Catching".
Caught 35 that were landed, mixture of perch, 6 to 8 inches long, blue gill
3 to 6 inches long and 5 bass ranging from 5 to 8 inches. There were about
20 that got LLR and it was a blast. We are going to try to go more often.
These were all caught down at our little secret stretch of water about 10
miles from here. Never saw another soul the whole day, as is usual.
Now, for the fly ID I need. All the fish were caught with one fly,
Someone sent me about 6 or 8 of these a couple years back. I want to think
they were called "Crappie Killers", but am not sure. I think it was one of
this persons "Secret" flies. I want to think that it may have been Del, or
possibly Mark that tied it, can not be sure. I got them in 2 sizes, #8 and
#12. The 8's have gold dumbbell eyes, the 12's have red bead eyes in black
thread. The body is kind of a green/ olive chennel look, and the top is an
olive marabou with a green crystal flash top. It is sort of a streamer
pattern. Could whoever tied these and sent them to me please clarify the
recipe for me and the materials. I lost the only one I had with me to a
tree, and nothing else I tossed at them even got a glance. This is truly a
got to fly for me on this water.
Will sleep tonight with good thoughts of the first real day fishing, and
"Catching", hoping I will get many more this year.
Jimi
