Sure "takes me back" Wes, lol. Don't know that i can spot Mel in that pic though. You know he always has that floppy hat on. I let him cast my Gatti rod in Livingston, Montana once, and he had never cast a Gatti. He was amazed. Then a bunch of guys started passing around Bamboo rods to try. Boy i can't wait til Aug. Why don't you guys try and make it to the Conclave this year? It's the 40th annual, and in Livingston again.....gonna be special. I've got two days reserved on DePuy's already. Misa is comming with me for the first time. My 4th Conclave and the first i went to was in Livingston so i'm really lookin' forward to takin' Misa to some great "spots" i know. She leaves from Bozeman the day after the Conclave is over and flies to Newark to change planes for Sweden and the Championship. I fish my way home. Next year i plan to go with her to the Championship for the first time. It's in Portugal. I may have to sacrifice the Conclave (in Bozeman) in order to do that. "Choices." Better get a reservation for a room NOW if you got eyes. We're at the Best Western. mark.....

Here' a photo of a Mel Krieger casting clinic on the casting ponds in Golden Gate Park. There's a flyfishers' club house adjacent to the ponds. Great facility.

I was so impressed that on one of my west coast business trips, I contacted Mel and asked if he would spend a few hours with me at the casting ponds in Golden Gate Park. What a great guy. I paid for two hours of instruction.
I met him at HIS HOUSE, he took me to lunch and HE PAID. We got to the
casting ponds at 1 PM. At 7PM I had to leave for dinner. He was still going strong and would have stayed till midnight. I could not get him to take any
additional money

Mel and Fannie Krieger are really wonderful folks. Linda and I had the pleasure of staying one night at their house which is just off the north edge of Golden Gate Park and within walking distance of the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club ponds. When Mel moved to San Francisco, his choice of location for his residence was VERY deliberate! *grin*
