Thanks Deb.  I spent enough time with Byard earlier this month to learn the same things.  Our friend is in high fishing mode this year and his daughter does a pretty good job minding the store since dad has been only stopping home here and there to stock up.  When he heads west with Howie this summer she'll really get a workout.

I have 4 sets of co-op packs (16?) including midge.  The co-op feathers are indeed being plucked by Byard now and are an excellent deal for anyone wanting variety at a great price.  I plan on ordering some 100s though to catch up on lighter colors I need.  Never thought I'd pluck a whiting saddle bald (except for the spades) but it happened.  Yes, I shared some too.

Byard is on the Cape right now through the 29th. I'm not sure if he has
email or not but I'm guessing no since he doesn't have anywhere to hook up.
I think his daughter runs Lines End while he's away. His phone didn't even
ring while I was there with him so she does a great job at it!

The Co-op swaps Byard ran for us are a full time deal now. He has them
listed at Lines End. He is doing all the plucking and packaging himself
when he has time. For anyone who isn't familiar with the swaps this was a
special deal that Byard & Don worked out with Whiting. We all plucked the
saddles by hand and sorted them out by size and repackaged them. You get
more flies from these than a Whiting 100 pack so it turned out to be a good
deal for all of us. They contain feathers of assorted sizes that would be
found on a saddle so you aren't just buying feathers for a sz 14 for example
(that is how the Whiting 100's are packaged). This is what makes these so
perfect for a beginner wanting to build up his supply and save a little
money.
