Ginger, i finally got the skinny. There is a Bob who has something to do
with schedualling. Apparently it's the new guy who is a major administrator
of the FFF overall. I met him last year in West Yellowstone. Very nice
gentleman. Had no idea he would get involved at the level of schedualling
tyers for the conclave. My pal (Bob) from Idaho Falls is not the one who i
had thought might be involved with that after all. Thing is, Gale Gourdy is
the official "guy in charge of tyers" (whatever) for the conclave, but Bob
W. is doing the schedualling of shifts. Might be nice if they let folks know
these things in advance, but you know how that goes. Seems the FFF is always
going thru a state of disruption in one way or the other as far as
admistration is concerned. Barb is about the only mainstay from what i've
seen in the last five years or more. And now that they've moved the offices
from Boseman (where she lives nearby) to Livingston, (in the same building
as the Museum) she is working out of her house, and is only in Livingston
one day a week. So she's harder to get a hold of than she used to be. As you
may or may not know, the gang from Idaho Falls (Upper Snake River
Cutthroats) is trememdously responsible for making the FFF I.C. "Happen"
each year. But they also do the Eastern Idaho Fly Tying/Fly Fishing Expo in
April each year as well. I guess it has been quite a load to make both
events "Happen" each year for them. So, it seems that there is a bunch of
new blood involved with making the FFF I.C. "Happen" this year. Well, a
changing of the gaurd is sometimes healthy. Outta be interesting to see how
the 40th annual goes this tme around. This will be my 4th FFF I.C. and i've
done 3 of the E.I.F.T./F.F. Expos now. Learned a tremendous amout about what
makes these shows tick. I'm a staunch believer in what the FFF stands for
and wish more folks were. Course i'm speaking from the Conservation and fly
tying perspective, not nessessarily the casting certification program. My
wife is an FFF certified casting instructor, and i think it's a fine
program, just not for me. I don't get involved with the O's & A's aspect of
it at all. For me, it's simply a case of whatever boats your float. But the
"Conclave" is a BLAST! mark
