Ed, and others,
If I may. When I was 10, (raised in west Texas), I got my first rifle, a
Stevens 22 single shot bolt action. As I was taught by my Father and older
Brother John, every shot was exactly where I wanted it to be. Never shoot
any living animal for fun, only for preservation or food, (saving livestock
or food). I was taught fishing the same way, my Dad called it being a
"Naturalist", (I later learned the phrase comes from the late 1600's).
Appreciate wildlife, but don't abuse it or worship it. Worship only the
"Creator" God.
Conservationists of today are a close image of that phrase, but some
still fall short, "environmentalist" are a full 180ยบ out from the norm and
worship the creation rather than the "Creator".
To this day I still consider myself more of a "Naturalist" than a
conservationist. Why, Barring "Mans" laws, if it means that my family starve
or survive, I will do what it takes for them to survive, Damn mans laws.
But, if I witness someone killing, (or catching fish), for the sake of EGO
or money, God help them, because I will do everything I can to stop them.
I think there is a difference, but it is more a state of mind and
upbringing, than a political position.
Jimi
As a TU member, I have determined that I am a "conservationist" not an
"environmentalist". Taking care of the environment is one thing, worshipping
it and putting animals on a higher plane than us is another!
