I'm glad to hear this from somebody else, cause if I catch that elusive 3-4# Bluegill (we do have 4#'er in Bama on record) then That is what I'll do too, cause he had to be a tough hombre' to get that big and live that long, so it won't be ME who kills him.... Chuck

Yes, and if I ever do a mount it will be this way.  I have talked to a couple of Taxidermists and this is the preferred way with them.

Subject: [VFB] Mounting the fish (almost)

My son in Law caught an 8 pound, 12 ounce largemouth two weeks ago, but released it, cause he wanted to have it mounted, but didn't think he could afford it.. Plus, it was in a small private pond we all fish, so maybe we can catch it again when it's 10-12 pounds... Anyway, he called the taxidermist to ask about prices, and was told that they can now  do it where you take numerous pics of the fish from all different angles.. Take different measurements etc..and then, take all that info to the taxidermist and he will "Mount" a fake fish that looks identical to the one you caught, and he said it would cost half as much as a real mount would cost.. Anybody else heard of thisa method???? Chuck
