If any of you have not been to a show, I thought I would share with you my memories of the first time I tied at a Major Show.
I do so at the risk at the risk of inflating the heads of a few list members. will send it in two parts. Part The First (from The Salt Lake City show 5-6 years ago) Listers WOW !!!!! WHAT AN EXPERIENCE !!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to make the assumption that you are familiar with a trade show and know what it means to walk into a major convention center filled with vendors catering to an industry. By industry standards I would sat the size of this show was medium. Have been to much larger ( automotive ) and some smaller (banking, insurance) but have never been to one where I went from booth to booth going WOW. What is your favorite rod ??? GLoomis, Sage, T&T, StCroix, Heritage, PacBay, Diamondback, Cortland, Did not matter-- every rod they make was there. 2 wt to spey. load it and try it. Favorite hook- here take a box or a bag. The new Lazer in a 3/0 sure have a box !!! Varivas hooks stopped by. I like their hooks a lot and they noticed that I was using their product. I will be tying for them in the Tampa Shallow Water Expo New Breathable Waders WITH A ZIPPER FLY !!!!! a COMBINATION PADDLE PUSHPOLE FOR A KAYAK Every conceivable tool, toys, gizmo watchmacallit imaginable !!! Some great new products from Loon. One step colored head epoxy. Bright colors. All kinds of tying materials flashings, threads, wires, eyes, cones, etc.... Who are your heroes in the sport, Lefty. He stopped by. Flip. there he is !!! Got to spend 5 minutes with MEL KREIGER. ( If you have read my posts on learning how to cast, you know the level of my esteem for Mel). "Thanks for stopping by Chico. Yes I will see you at the Orlando Clinic next Month" (Are you kidding me !) Taught the wife of Gary Loomis how to tie a purple death while Gary and I swapped prostate cancer war stories.
