Record catfish caught at Battan Lake
Reported by "You will never believe this",
Amanda Genzling of Lakewood NM caught the new state record catfish today.
The "Big Cat" weighed 287 pounds, almost 3 times the weight of the fisher
person. Amanda hooked the monster on a "down and dirty" fly which she had
tied herself. Her parents, James and Theresa Genzling were quiet concerned
for the first 4 days. "It pulled her up and down the river continuously"
stated Theresa, her mother. "I was proud that she never let it brake the 9X
tippet the number 42 fly was tied to", her father James told the press.
James, AKA "Jimi" AKA "Desert Eagle" to his friends and fry fishing
aficionados buddies, swam out to her every so often with fresh water, iced
tea and sodas with sandwiches and such as she passed by during the 4 day
ordeal. Payn Wrecking offered and used its services with its "Mack" tow
truck to hoist the monster for photos. However, the weight of the fish and
the struggle that ensued once it was clear of the water caused the tow truck
and driver to be pulled into the the river. No injuries were reported but
the driver was quiet miffed that a 12 year old girl could out do him. Amanda
stated that, "He should have let him have some line when he wanted to run
rather than try to horse him".

BTW, any of you see that new world record Catfish caught in Thailand? I only
got to read a few lines of the article, then my pewter craped out for a time
and when i got it goin' again, couldn't find the article........but it was
either 464 lbs. or 646 lbs. I DID see a pic and DAMN, the thing was
REDICKALUS!!!!! Looked like it had been eatin' livestock or people for a
time........lol. mark
