He is a walking encyclopedia on antique rods. He got an old rod from me last October that will eventually be in the collection if it is not already there. His book is one of the best you will find on bamboo rod history, it has some of the best detailed photos of old bamboo rods you will find anywhere. As much as I would like to attend, I will have to pass on it. I did make it several years ago.Tony mark romero wrote:Just thought yáll might like to take a peek at this. We are really excited about all that is happening and I wanted to give you a brief update. There is far too much happening for me to tell you about it all so I will only hit a few highlights. We will be working to keep the FFF Website update so be sure to check often for changes. Our exhibit hall is nearly full! We have a great lineup of companies that are exhibiting their products and services. All of these great businesses are making a substantial commitment to attend our show and I encourage you to look to them first when you are shopping. This link http://fedflyfishers.org/conclave2005/exhibit_booth_handout.pdf will take you to a map of the show hall and a listing of all exhibitors. We are adding new exhibitors daily so be sure to keep checking. We have a couple of great additions to our bamboo rod offerings. Jeffrey Hatton, author of the book Rod Crafting, will be bringing his display of bamboo rods. Jeffrey has one of the finest private rod collections in the world and this is an amazing display. Andy Royer, the Bamboo Broker, will be giving a special screening of the new film "Trout Grass" at the Bamboo Symposium on Wed. August 10. This movie traces Tonkin cane from the hillsides of China through the rod building process to the water where the rods are fished by Tom McGuane and David Duncan. This film has only been shown once ever and we are very lucky to offer this special screening. Find out more about this and all our bamboo offerings at http://fedflyfishers.org/conclave2005/bamboorod.php. Have you purchased tickets for the Conclave meal functions? Several of the meals have limited numbers of tickets available and if you wait you might not get in. The President's/ Awards Banquet on Wednesday night is sure to sell out. Only 215 tickets are available for this great evening. One of the many highlights of the night will be a talk by Ernie Schwiebert speaking on the early history of the FFF. It has been a number of years since Ernie has been with us so don't miss your chance to listen to and visit with this true legend of fly fishing. Call Jessica at 406-222-9369 to reserve your tickets. Our live auction is always one of the high points of the week and this year will be no exception. The Southern Council FFF is sponsoring their famous auctioneering team of Johnny Chamness and Dennis Sloan. Anyone who has ever attended a Southern Council Conclave at Mountain Home knows what a treat it is for us to have them. Their entertaining style will leave you wishing the auction would never end. As a special addition to the evening, the Fess Parker Winery is providing complimentary wine for all. Auction dinner tickets are $25.00 but there is no charge for those who wish to come after dinner to enjoy the auction. If you have any items to donate to the auction or raffle please being them, they will be greatly appreciated and will help us achieve our mission of Conserving, Restoring and Educating Through Fly Fishing. We need more volunteers to help with different Conclave activities. If you have a couple of hours free and want to help please contact Jessica or Bob at 406-222-9369. These are just a few of the Conclave messages we want to share. The new Flyfisher will be in the mail very soon and you will find more updates there. We will also be sending out a number of additional Email updates. If you do not wish to receive further Emails please send a reply to this message with the word unsubscribe in the subject line and we will drop you from the list. Things are coming together great and the Conclave committee is excited that this will be a great show. Please let us know if there are ways we can improve or make your experience better.
