Hi Gang!
Just wanted ya'll to know that Jody and I got home safely this afternoon
from our trip for Jody's Mom's funeral in Eugene, OR last Thursday. It
was a sad occassion, but Jody did get to see her five sisters and her
brother and lots of nieces and nephews. Sad about Mom passing, but she
was ready to go and went easily, in her sleep. It had been some twelve
years since all the siblings had gotten together, so that part was fun.
Jody's Escalade averaged 19.5 mpg, driving at 70 - 75 mph on I-20,
I-25, I-80 and I-84, and 70 mph on lesser roads, going slow for
construction at times and slow through some towns when off the
interstates, plus going over 5 mountain passes, from 4,200 ft to over
8,000 ft, and being loaded down with our stuff and a bunch of things
Jody's Mom had left her. I know 19.5 mph sounds like JIMMY D braggin,
but Scout's Honor, that's what we averaged for those 4,400 miles.
It's good to be home, all except the 808 messages I received while gone :-P

P.S. We crossed the Green, MacKenzie, Willamette, Malhuer, St. Vrain,
Canadien, Snake and I lost track of the other ones. Saw a lot of guys
wading, and looked like all the rivers had plenty of water. Nope, I
didn't wet a line, didn't even take my rod.
