Byard posted a photo for me of my 'gallows tool'.  On one vise, I attach it to the lamp post.  ON another I have a gallows post for it.
 
It's a bit different in that it just grabs and holds the material while you wrap on it, like a 3rd hand.
 
For extended bodies, grab the tail fibers with the materials clip, with the rubberband wrapped around the light post (horizontally)however times you need for tension, and then wrap your body material out onto the tail and then back again.  Works great with the rope-dub method.
 
For Winger wings as the hackle post, just grab the tied-on wings from a vertical position, and then hackle as you would using a post.
 
Adjust the materials clamp tension so as not to slide off the materials.  The big rubberband helps the material clip not to spin, but I'm working on a simple idea to fix the clamp so it can't spin at all.  I'll post it when I finish the design.
