Hey Denny Thanks for that article, very interesting and informative and not just for beginners. I'm from the old school of bending the hackle and "feeling" the stiffness of it on your upper lip to test it for quality. Lately I've been buying good dry fly hackles and even using them on streamers (the larger ones) just because I figured they look nicer, but I realize the "action" is missing when the fly is fished. Can't use a stiff hackle on wooley buggers:)
