Write or email the mag and ask for a copy of their Writer's Guidelines.Adher to their guidelines when preparing your article. Make sure your grammar is correct.  Be persistent. Make sure your article is well researched and relevant to the editorial content of the magazine. Be prepared for lots of rejections. Getting published doesn't happen overnight.   I went through four years of rejections before I sold my first article.   Lastly, when you query the editor of the mag, include info about yourself that makes you uniquely qualified to write the article.   Lastly, try to build a good relationship with the editor.  Believe me, the writing business is TOUGH ! Been there, done that  and have the T-Shirt, the cap and the patch!  I have two outdoor editors, that I've built that relationship with that now query me for my articles. I  get 3 - 4 assignments to do an "on site" article for them each year.  Once a year, I send a "shopping list" of  written and proposed articles to each of them.

Don't expect to make any real money from it.  The only way to do that is to write a "best selling" book :-P   I could go on for another few pages, so if you want to know more contact me OFF  LIST.

I have a set of articles that I would like to have published in a fly fishing magazine. I would prefer them to be in Fly Fisherman, as that is the one I read most often. Does anyone know how to go about this??
