As I return to doing the daily fishing quote for the fly fishing lists,
I want to thank Rick Zieger for the great job he did during my absence.
He included several days worth of instructional quotes, which all of us
who fish for the elusive trout can certainly use. My last few weeks
have been "harried" to say the least, but the birth of two new
grandaughters in a period of three days certainly replenished my psyche.
My first few quotes will be from Steelhead Fly Fishing by Trey Combs.
These come from his delightful book that was given to me by none other
than our resident "profit" and "chief inventor" Don Ordes. Thanks
again, Don for some very informative and enjoyable reading. TODAY"S
quote is below and comes from the book
Good to be Back.
JIMMY D
"I hold the steelhead as firmly as I dare, a hand around the wrist of
her tail, my fingers, stiff with cold, free the Winter Orange of its
hold. Thickly silvered gill plates rise and fall as she gasps and
flushes the faint currents. Plainly, she is stressed, but shock does
not cloud her brilliance. I judge that in a minute her recovery will be
complete, and her focus will turn to escape. To restrain her then would
be a threat to her survival. I must hurry about my business as I wonder
where this beautiful fish has been during her wanderings from fresh to
salt water and then back again."

ability to read a defense is to an NFL Quarterback."
