Chuck,
You would enjoy the brim fishing more with a lighter weight rod, I know
I do. A three or four wt rod to me would be in the ballpark.

Folks: Being new to flyfishing.. I have two rods and reels.. One is an
elcheapo Wally World Shakespeare,8 ft rod, that is a 5 weight, and it
has 5 wt flat line.... The other is an 8-9 weight, and I put front
tapered #8 line on it... I know that an 8-9 is huge for Bluegill
fishing, but it is the one I am used to, cause my son uses my 5 wt...
Should I buy a 2-3 weight, and relearn to cast it, or keep the 8-9
since I am pretty accurate with it now, and am used to it...I have
gotten comfortable with it, but would I have a much better fishing
experience, if I went to a lighter rod???? Thanks, Chuck
