That must have been a small one Jester if it could only manage a car. We get them in the .UK but not to the same size as the NZ fish. There has been a bit of a decline in numbers of these fish here and no-one is sure as yet why this is. In the UK there is a run each year of eel fry (elvers) which are regarded as a delicacy in the so say posh restaurants and they have been fetching stupid prices per kilo of upto £400 plus. This has bought out the unscrupulous who have been robbin the elver fishers of their catch on the river bank. The methods used by the fishers are unchanged for the past 100+ years so they wont be a significant cause of the decline in adult fish. The research continues...
