The best bet is the Provo river, right in Provo's back yard. It is essentially a double tail water, the most famous stretch is the Lower Provo in Provo Canyon, below Deer Creek reservoir but the Middle Provo, further upstream below Jordanelle Reservoir is also excellent. The Lower Provo has the biggest fish and gets the most pressure.

Access on both stretches is excellent, if you drive up the canyon you will see pull offs, most with cars all ready parked. This is a popular urban fishery and gets a lot of pressure, but a good fisherman can do well.

The middle has smaller, more numerous fish and good hatches throughout the day. PMD and PED as well as caddis are common. I usually nymph fish with a BHHE and a BHPT as a dropper. Flies 16 and smaller are the ticket.

Larry Johnson and Joyce Westphal both live in the area, I think Joyce fishes the Provo a lot.

I'm available Thursday the 4th in the morning, and all week next week. If you'd like to hook up I'd love to show you around.

I'll be in Provo, Utah, for an afteroon and night this week.  Anybody know about flyfishing there?  Shops, good river access points (out of the way).
