Just thought I'd check my mail from my daughters house. Boy, she has one fast computer! Got 2" rain at the ranch yesterday. That along with the 3" last week has really greened up my pasture. I may yet get through the summer without having to haul hay. Checked the San Gabriel River, a mile north of the ranch and it is blowing and going. The low water crossing is blocked off. Won't be able to fish it for at least a week, what with all the rain west of here, coming down river. Need to get my pontoon craft out and clean it up and check for leaks by the first of Sept, so I can fish the Brazos between Lake Whitney and Waco. Around Waco, the Brazos is constant level, very lazy stream. Just right for an old F*** like me that doesn't like to row. Believe it or not, the Brazos has some really nice sized Smallies - up to 5 pounds, and lots of Rio Grande perch and Blue Gills.
The weather has been totally different from the usual 100 degrees that we have in C. TX during July - Aug. Highs this week have been in the 80's and lows in the high 60's-low 70's, totally out of character for our neck of the woods. I came down to get Jody. She's been with my daughter and new grandaughter for the last three days. Melissa came down with a urinary tract infection. Doc prescribed some .30-.06 Amoxy, i.e. Augmentin and some Azo. She's ok now, but with a two week old baby, we were plenty scared until the UTI got under control. Talk to ya'll tomorrow. Bueno Rises, JIMMY D
