I know someone on the
list has great tutorials (was it Tony or Denny?), if not invented the
method, but I honestly forget exactly who it is...

It was taught to me by Tony. With his permission I did the tutorial on it for Fly Anglers On Line in December 2002.

I braid a bit differently than Tony does but the results are similar.
Martin Westbek stayed with me in my room at the Sowbug the Spring of 2002 and he taught me to do the wonderwing, using mallard flank.(2 AM sitting on the floor of our resort room.)  Once I mastered it, I came up with the idea to add it to the Knit Pickin Mayfly. There is a photo at the end of the article. It must give the fish a silhouette they like because it has caught a lot of trout up here in the Nor West.

One of the things I like about tying this fly is you can use any colors and sizes of thread on any size hook. Just let your mind wander and try and match a hatch you have seen. Surprise yourself and enjoy!
