Very funny, also found out Sargasso is spanish for sea weed. so it is also a generic term.

I just had to know. After my research it seems the Pacific sargassum is mainly rooted, a different variety from the Atlantic floating species which forms the infamous sargasso sea. So they do have sargasso algae in the sea of cortez.
