Because I opened a disguised spam email today I discovered a site
that I was unaware of. It's impact on fly fishing is pretty much
non-existent but for me it was quite enlightening. It appears that
alexa.com tracks internet web traffic to specific web sites and ranks
their findings. I was amazed to discover that both the VFB and Line's
End ranked higher than flyshop.com (Fly Fisherman Mag).
Statistics have always fascinated me...not that they've ever really
impacted upon my decisions...but they still do fascinate me...;^)
From what I can determine the rankings are based upon daily visits to
websites. How do they figure this out? I ain't got a clue! Consider
that Google ranks #3. VFB ranks #829,963. Yep, that's a really big
number, but considering world demographics in regards to "fly
fishing", being at that position, especially when compared to similar
websites, really impressed me. Being ranked under 1 million of all
the gazillion websites out there seems like it should be a point of
celebration!
Now a favor...they have a feature incorporated on their site that
allows reviews to be posted to Amazon. I haven't looked further to
see where they may show up...but no reviews have been posted for
either VFB or Line's End. Actually not many for others either. So the
favor is to ask a few of you kind folks to write a review for one or
both sites. Do be honest and unbiased. I'd do one myself, but I
suspect that I would not be able to follow either of those
criteria...<g>

Link to Line's End is <http://www.alexa.com/data/details/?url=linesend.com>
Just look for the link on the page that asks if you would like to
write a review for Amazon.
Thanks in advance...byard
