What dues are you talking about? When I joined, I did not see anything about dues but I can believe that Byard must have an overhead involved with the list. Whatever the dues are, it has to be a bargain. So far I have tied 22 flies since I started tying a couple of weeks ago and they would not have turned out as nice as they have if it wasn't for the "tidbits" I have picked up on the list. There is nothing like tying a new fly and laying it gently on the water for the first time. When you tug on the line and the fly walks across the water, it is "plum perteeee".
