Speaking of bamboo rods, I hope that this isn't THAT far off topic...
I want to try my hand at building a 7'9" 3wt (traditional hex, etc etc). Two questions are: How does one create a tapered planing form, and second, does anyone have a taper formula (for creating the form) that I may use? Please send replies off-list, for these two questions, as I'm thinking this is too far off of the topic...
On a more "to the point" note, those who have fished bamboo and other materials, what are your opinions of bamboo versus the modern graphites and such? Pro's and cons to each would be appreciated, along with what weight line / rod you use (and for what fishes).
