We'll have to inventory everything once we get back.  But I'm fairly confident that things will be pretty good for us.  They are planning to srtart letting people back into Lake Charles this Friday.  I'll contact our landlord to see if power has been restored at the house, if not we'll stay here in Texarkana until it is.  I need pwer so I can keep my insulin in the refrigerator.  I doubt of anything too much value was destroyed at the house.  We do have a storage shed outside in back but it was
fairly well protected by the house, since it was on the northwest corner, ost protected from the winds.  The stuff in the dog kennel was a few fishing nets, cast nets  and large ice chests (all the large ice chests were from garage sale, so not much invested there). If you are wondering about my tying materials and vises, a goodly portion of that was up in lab and office for the article I wrote on tying with materials from craft/sewing/dollar stores.  It was there since thqat is where my photographic setup is  (I also do that stuff for the chem dept).  That building took little damage.  some of it may have gotten wet, but it all dry out ok.  The rest of the tying
stuff at home (capes & necks, other assorted materials) is in another old garage sale dresser, well protected.

The thing nobody is looking forward to, is cleaning out the refrigerator (won't be too bad, wasn't that much in it, since we were
due for a grocery shopping trip. The really bad job will be cleaning out the deep freeze on the back porch which was just about completely full.  It is really going to stink.  We are planning on buying our cleaning products up here in Texarkana, because we are pretty sure there will be a shortage of this stuff in Lake Charles.

In case you are wondering, I'm still getting paid, since I have a contract with the state of Louisiana.  Our bank isn't up and running yet in Lake Charles, so it states we are overdrawn because of automatic deductions. I'm not worried since we have overdraft protection, and we'll deposit the money in the first functional branch
we encounter on the way home (we've tried, can't deposit the money because the small regional bank code is specific for the Lake Charles
location) . McNeese arranged to have the checks it couldn't automatically deposti to be picked up at Western Union offices, so we found a Western Union office and got my paycheck monies
yesterday. I'm luckier than many people since I know I have a house to go back to, most of my belongings are probably in good shape and I know I definitely have a job.
