It has a swinging treble that looks like it's tied in at the head of the
tube and swings underneath the tube so that the wing doesn't get wrapped in
the hook as easily. So I'm not sure how you put the tube on your leader.
What do you tie your leader to? You could tie the hook in at the head and
then leave a length of leader out the front but that isn't what the picture
in the book shows. The pictures in this book look to be computer generated
though, I don't really like that. Every fly is perfectly tied though. :)
The book also doesn't have any tying instructions, it just lists recipes and
history. There is an article about using single hooks with tubes in the
April 1996 Trout and Salmon so I'm going to see if I have that copy.

Subject: RE: [VFB] Deb - Halfincher/templedog

what do you mean by a swinging hook ????

I figured out where I read about the templedogs being Shitzu's. It's in the
book Hairwing and Tubeflies for salmon & steelhead page 27.
Now I have another thing I'm trying to figure out. How to rig a Hakan
Norling Halfincher with a swinging hook? Is he just putting a hole in the
tube also? How and what does he secure the hook to?
Seems like it's getting a little technical for the average tube fly tyer
now, how often is this used anymore?
