Buggs, pls ask Don to provide more details about the furled rope dubbed
tail. Thanks in advance Ree DonO wrote: Rene, I like a short hook with a long supple extended tail (ultra-chennille or a furled rope-dubbed tail), a fatter thorax with a little chikabou for legs, and plastic bead eyes. Olive green is my favorite color. A small wing-case is good, too. Just don't overdo the materials- very skimpy fly for a damsel. I make a wingcase of the chickabou base tied down, folded over towards the eyes, then between the eyes and back under, tying down behing the eyes. This forces the short chikky tips to the rear and they now double as legs. A lot of natural movement is needed, and the tail and legs should provide that motion. Some patterns even put a tiny tip of marabou on the tail.Dragonfly larva are more 'beefy', built more like a stonefly.
