Tony , As for Billy Taylor rod tapers ,knowing nothing about building rods
years is the reason I took measurements every two inches and as I measure
the rod I gave you the average measurement with the varnish on the
finish.and he used super Z fittings .The rod tip was darker then the handle
end. Bill and his wife own a candy store in Patterson ,N.J. and the tip
sections was in the store window for more then thirty years causing it to
darken. I feel on most bamboo rode that the lasr eight inches on the tip are
made to thin .And you see thicker tips on Taylor rods .When I was with him
before he died he finally put it together and to his surprise was his best
rod ever .That rod would cast it self and setting a fly in a two inch area
was a ease .Somehow I need to fine Walt Carpenter ,he has two of my rods and
I was the person that built his oven in exchange for a rod which I never
got. "Fish Flies " by Terry Hellekson has allot of history and should be
out soon and at Amonzon .com is the best place to get one and should be out
soon. With over 800 pages ,hardbound ,it will be the last of it kind
,flies, history etc.I was involve with Catskills Waters and T.U. in Roscoe in
the 70's.

fly tying classes
No problem Glen, I have been on the run for the past three months. Things
are slowing down a bit and am trying to get caught up on "Promised Flies".
I have the bamboo rod tapers saved and will get some of them made over the
winter.
I have just finished reading a book " The Beaverkill". What a book about
the history of the Beaverkill, Willowemac, Mongaup Creek and others. The
history of the Dette's and the Darbee's, Roy Steenrod , Rube Cross , Art
Flick and a lot of others.
I was in Rosco and Livingston Manor six weeks ago, got to tie at the
Flyfishing Center. Stayed at the Rosco Motel right on the Beaverkill.
I hope to get back there next September again, for the Bamboo Rod
Gathering. Now that I know more about the area, I want to see some of the
places I read about.
Glad it was not destroyed with the Dam they proposed to build on the
Beaverkill.

Tony , Sorry not getting back to you sooner ,I hope you like the historic
rod tapers I sent you and it was tapers that turn out to be their number

their yard work and mow their grass and feed their chickens .
