Subject: [VFB] Bonefishing in Florida

I was wondering if anyone has fished the Bahia Honda State Park area in the Florida keys and if so what the best time of year was to fish there and the best flies.I was told on my recent trip to Cape Cod about the camp site.

You will have the opportunity for fish for the largest average bonefish in the world, they are the most educated as well but will eat well presented flies.  I would bring some barracuda flies as well, the large cudas move on when the weather cools and can help make the day when nothing else cooperates.  You will see more double digit bonefish in the keys when compared to any where else in the world

clouser minnows in chartreuse and white, tan and white, brown and white, not a whole lot of flash in sizes from 4 to 1/0, small flies when the fish are edgy.  Keep it simple, and have different weights for deep or tailing fish.  Tailing fish you do not necessarily need weight.  Tie in some kind of weed guard.  the turtle grass grabs, I like the v type of guard just enough to keep the point from grabbing .

I very seldom throw anything other than a #4 tan and white clouser with black, light beadchain eyes
