So is the fly in the picture not the BM? It looks to me like it has a clipped body.
Probably a newer variation which brings us to another topic. When do you change the name of a fly if you take an original pattern and change it as in this tie. I know we have had this discussion before on here but it was a couple of years back.
The most changed pattern I can think of is the good old Pheasant tail nymph.
So when do we change the fly's name???????????

Hi, The Bulkley Mouse that I am familiar with has a deerhair body but it is not spun and clipped, irresistable style, the deer hair is tied in and drawn along the hook shank and criss cross wrapped. I think that the fly rides lower on the water this way.--Gerry
