I don’t have Trey Combs book but I found it in Dick Stewart's Steelhead
book.  It is tied along the shank.   I'm wondering if you tie yours a little
lighter than the one in this picture.  It looks like it's tied pretty thick,
it could just be the picture though.

Hi, The Bulkley Mouse that I am familiar with has a deerhair body but it is
not spun and clipped, irresistable style, the deer hair is tied in and drawn
along the hook shank and criss cross wrapped. I think that the fly rides
