Reuven -

I just got LaFontaine's book "Trout Flies" - what a great book.  Another one you should consider.  Also, Goddard's book "The Trout Fly Patterns of John Goddard" contains a series of simple proven patterns.  They both retail in the $25.00 range, but shop around; they can be found cheaper.

Thanks Nev:

I ended up getting both for around 50 dollars together inc. postage from
Amazon. I also finished with Tying Flies with CDC and La Fontaines'
Caddisflies. .....luckily I didn't forget my wife's $5 cook book. I hope she
doesn't realise I maxed out the visa card  because of her cookbook!!! I
wanted another 6 books "desperately" but though I'd leave them until next
time. I didn't really have a choice either way.

Thanks again,

Reuven

I have Bob Veverka's Innovative Saltwater Flies bur not PopFleyes so I can't
compare.

It is a nice book, but rather pricey. Interviews and articles about numerous
successful well known US flytiers.

If you want a "how to" book, I suspect there are cheaper alternatives.
