Dear BooBooks,
Try this. Find a strike indicator that can be
set up so that line feeds through it. Tie on a vertically-fished fly that
is weighted enough to pull the line through the indicator, but not enough to
sink it. (Doll-fly, weighted nymph, etc.) Set the depth it will be
fished by tying a piece of poly yarn to the leader above the strike indicator
(i.e. 'bobber'). The fly will pull right up to the indicator for casting
to a hole in the weeds. When it hits the hole, the weighted fly will pull the
leader through the indicator up to the yarn, thus settling to the depth you
set. Twitch-fish the fly. When the strike indicator indicates a
strike, just yank that little puppy straight out of the water to a clear spot
behind you, then play him. LOL.

Subject: [VFB] How do you fish in
this???
Folks: The lake where I have been fishing this Summer,
and WAS tearing the Bluegill up till the water got cooled down... Well, there
is this plant life growing in the lake... Grows there every yr. Looks like
GIANT jelly fish embedded with Algae... It is some type of aquatic plant, that
, apparently the 30 pound grass carp they stocked in there won't
eat..Anyway, the bass, bluegill etc, are Hiding in these plants...Problem is,
if I use a dry fly, and twitch it across the top of the water they will NOT
dart out and take the fly off the top... If I use wet flies, and let them
sink, by the time I get the fly in, it is COVERED in green Algae... Any ideas
on how to fish water like this???? I even tried to hit the holes now and then,
where there is none of this stuff growing, but what with the sunny days we are
having, the fish, I suppose, can see me as well as I can see them, and are
much to smart for Me LOL...(My wife laffed when I told her a fish was smarter
than me LOL) Anyway, thanks for any help.... Chuck
