Dont have one but beleive they are used for raking the fur off of ceramic tiles in the bathroom;-> The fur is usually found at ground level and contains all sorts of "stuff". The rear of the base of the toilet pan is a prime location for ceramic fur.  Unfortunateley the British preoccupation of carpetting the bathroom reduces the area of ceramics, hence the reason I do not possess a ceramic fur rake.
