I'm not sure that spinning deer hair crabs is anything new if that's what you're asking. I've had a green crab of spun deer hair on Hans site for a couple years now and I got that pattern from a local tyer here that has tied them for years. I don't think he limits it to just green crabs, that just happens to be the pattern I chose to tie for Hans. Regards, Deb
