Ginger, Thanks for the fishing guide. It also looks like pompano will be in season, as will tripletail & amberjack. What about offshore species? Is there also a guide for that? Now I need a fly guide. I intend to use my new shrimp pattern extensively.
What is the weather like over the year's end period? Is it volatile? Are there storms that move in quickly? What's available (fishwise) around Ft. Meyers? I'LL keep your phone number this time and we'll be there with wading shoes on. Just get into the canoe before Jerry gets in- that's all I got to say. He brings new meaning to the phrase 'Tip your guide.' He even tips his guests. We need some time to tie together, too. It's been over 30 years since I've visited Sanibel. It will be interesting to see it again. I'll have my Mokai, so hopefully we can set up a day to group kayak somewhere. I'm glad sharks are low-rated that time of year. Let's see...12 foot boat, add 15 foot hammerhead- not good. Looking forward to seeing you again and meeting your husband, and fishing with y'all. Jerry G. must get so excited when you're in the state he loses his head. Maybe he has you confused with Prince Charles. Just kidding. For those of you who don't know Jerry G. misplaced my phone number when Don O. was in town last. Left us sitting in our driveway with boat hitched wondering where Waldo was. Here is a good guide for seasonal fishing. Looks like snook, mackerel, seatrout are your best bets. Snook and some reds will be up the mangrove creeks. Allen -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of DonO Sent: Saturday, November 05, 2005 12:01 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [VFB] Florida Keys Flyfishing I'm planning a trip this year's-end down to the Bagwan's area (aka JerryG- yeah, I know- I'm a glutton for punishment) and then down to the keys (never been there- Sanabel is as far as I've gotten). What's the best fish to target for late Dec/early Jan. in the S. Florida area? I'll have my Mokai and Jerry would have his kayak, so we'll be targeting inshore species mostly. But if anything big (marlin, sailfish) is running, I'll charter a captain and we'll try for those, too. Ginger, if you're around, maybe we can actually get to fish this time. Any help would be appreciated. If anyone wants to go along, let's do it. DonO
