Title: The Veteran
Excellent words Allan. It is sad that so many have had to make the ultimate sacrifice to provide the freedoms we have today. I for one will be forever grateful to those who have secured the freedoms we so often take for granted. My father and his brothers all served for Canada in WW II . Fortunately they all returned home safely.

Subject: [VFB] The Veteran

        THE VETERAN
It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
Who has given us the freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
Who has given us the right to a fair trail.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

     It is the VETERAN,
Who salutes the Flag, who serves under the Flag,

Eternal rest grant them O Lord,
And let perpetual light shine upon them.
(Nov. 2004 Indianapolis Medical Society BULLETIN)

I have no idea who authored the above.  But to all veterans:  THANK YOU!

May your 'day' be blessed.
