Title: Meddelande
OK... I'm finally saying it. I'm not just lazy... I'm a lazy SLOB.
To meet the bother with having to stretch aaaall the way to the Plano box when getting tools (and never putting any) back, I bought the Renzetti tool caddy. Very handy, takes minimum space and holds quite a number of tools... everything in one place 30 cm's from the vise. Now the bench would look neat and tidy.
To meet the bother with having to stretch aaaall the way for the (same) Plano box when getting new thread/floss/tinsel (and never putting anything back), I bought a couple of thread stands. Superb decision... 90 spools right in front of me. This would be a completely different bench.

So what are we looking at? Let's see... 1... 2... 3........ 15 thread spools + 5 floss spools + 3 tinsel spools... scattered around the bench. All withing an arm length from the stands. Next one, let's see... whip-finish (x2), dubbing needle, scissors (x4), tweezers (x3), dubbing teaser, leg knot tool, hackle pliers (x3), hair stacker, dubbing twister and 2 empty bobbins... all lying scattered AROUND the tool caddy. Not one tool further from the caddy than 25 cm's. To this we also have 6 empty slots in the plastic drawer cabinet... while the drawers are scattered around the vise... with the hook boxes/bags around them.

(I'm not even going into the material piles around me and the half full open drawers right next to me.)

Tool caddies, thread stands, mini drawer cabinets... all great inventions (which we probably should thank DonO for). So, thanks DonO. They mean nothing to me, but it's the thought that counts.

Isn't fly-tying benches a strange phenomena? When you've finished packing for a trip and are going to close the suitcase, it's always JUST too full... and it doesn't matter how sparesly you've chosen the clothes or how organized you've been when packing it. But there's no limit for a tying bench. You're not picky when taking out stuff and you're far from organized when you put it down on the bench... but it doesn't matter how much you put on it, there's always room for more.
