I tried it out and the UTC is easier to work with.  I also had some problems with the finish.  The price is not really much better when you consider the price per foot and quality IMHO.  If you paid 10 bucks for 8 spools (I got mine on sale for 6.99) it's really not such a great deal unless each color is one you can use or need to fill in with.  I agree that many products (like copper wire) are over-priced for the amount but how much magenta wire do you use?  Now, the UTC Wine is a hot color for trout if combined with awesome hair.  Maybe certain very dark (is that natural?) copper wires work as well but I'll stick with UTC until the trout don't.

Depends on the fly size, I bought a package of craft wire from one of the big craft chains (Michaels?) that I like, 10 bucks for 8 or ten spools in all different colors, a very fine wire I can use down to size 16 or even 18.  It was in the bead department, same as ultrawire only loads cheaper.  I have also for years carried a fly tied using the strands of copper wire from an old extension cord.  Nuce fly but too bright for most conditions.  Sinks like a rock though.
