PS  Henk, how did your trip end up?  I never heard from you, Yes, sorry 'bout that, but I developed a slight fever after the Connetquot trip. FIshing on Monday, when I accompanied Herman to Sandy Hook, was nonexistent. We were the only two flyflingers on the entire beach. All people we spoke to reported no fish and no catches, and all the hardware and clam flingers we fished next to (both halfway up the peninsula and on the point) didn't catch anything either. Connectquot was an interesting experience. It is a lovely place. Fish were taken by all on heavy nymphs and streamers. Some parts (notably beat 26 if I remember correctly, just below the bridge) are almost like a stew pond... but I figured the weather pretty much killed any fishing and I ended up in West Virginia for Thanksgiving. Probably the wisest thing to do. It was freezing (both literally and as figure-of-speech) on long island. Never realized how rural some parts of long island are. Again, interesting and enlightening. Too bad you can't photograph from the Verazzano bridge. I had a wonderful view of Manhattan in sunrise.
