Funny, Byard and I fish with my friend Corey (guy lives down from Yellow Breeches 10 minutes) who had a brown named "Morticia" back in his 20s.  Never heard him complain but those days remain a bit long ago.

On a tying note, Corey only fishes #18 tan EHC on the Breeches and does as well as anyone there.  It's one of the few flys he ties as he is not one to spend a lot on "stuff" or flys.  Even got his Winston rod at cost from friend Tad (I'll post some pics soon of all these characters on my website soon enough) who worked for John "Dai-Riki Monopolist" Bailey back in the day they filmed "A River Runs Through It".  That Winston is one heck of a rod too.

Nick, you bringing Jester to Sowbug?  The new mascot?

It's a Chilean Rose (Grammostola rosea). Probably the most common spider to
be found in pet stores. Not very venomous and not really aggressive either.
(I've had worse.) But although it's the ultimate spider to start with, do
not underestimate those urticating abdomen hairs. They won't kill you... but
you will learn what the word "itching" really means. I've been having
hydrocortisone cream on my wrist for three days now and it doesn't seem to
slow down. All because of Jimmy's doubts. I should have told him that the
picture I sent was found on the internet and that I was bluffing. It would
have saved me a lot of agony...

Not me. Just rarley use them as bait is something I avoid. ;-) As a
pattern they fail me since I don't have any hooks larger than #6
streamers....er...well...there are those 6,7,8/0s from the IOFF swap that
don't fit in my AK Best jaws. Maybe vise grips would work?

BTW, which variety is that? Nicuaraguan, Guatamaluan? I think the Mexican
ones are brown but am not much on arachnids as patterns.

Gee, Nick,

I stomp on those things.

Allan

She's very real. Beatrice is her name and she keeps me company in my tying
room. Very good listener and usually very calm. But last night when I was
taking her out to take the pictures for Jimmy (who also had doubts), she
suddenly got a little bit cranky. She scratched these urticating hairs over
my wrist and hand, so my best friend today has been a tube of 'anti-itching
cream'. http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=jgmyo7.

The hat is an IOFF Charter Member hat. The charter members could chose
between signed or unsigned when they were ordered. I bet though, that if you
ask Byard nicely, he might sign also a regular hat if you buy one.

Can't promise... but I think he will.
