Actually he is in about 800 miles east of Casper this evening.
He is returning from his Florida trip, 5 days of which was spent
at Chez Goldsmith. ( I, of course, gave him the special rate reserved for
VFB members) :-)

Very mixed reviews on Fishing. The highlight of our fishing was Don
catching a HUGE Spanish mackerel (over 7 lbs. I thought it was a small
Kingfish when I saw it coming to the boat.) But the WEATHER was
BRUTAL. Among the coldest weather we get in this part of Florida and
the wind has been constantly blowing at speeds that make fishing difficult
and fly fishing impossible. We are at that time of the year when the cold
fronts
come rolling through every 3-4 days. And with them comes not only the
wind and the cold, but the ocean swells can easily produce 4'+ seas.
If the swell is gentle you can stand and fish, but if the swells are quick
and choppy
standing is very tough.

Among the cancelled trips were one to the fabled no motor zone,
a second trip just south of the Zone, a trip with Ken Staples, a trip with
Ginger Allan, a trip with Aaron Adams.

Don did get a chance to use his new Mokai in the florida keys, but mostly
for touring.
Again the winds did not abate while he was there.

My own club was supposed to fish in Stuart, Fl this Saturday. Forecast
is for 6-9 foot seas with 25 knot winds. Temp at 6AM will be low 30's.
We cancelled the trip at tonight's meeting.

Tony Spezio is also in town and I am taking him shad fishing this coming
Monday.
Ginger, Ken-- if you have the day off and want to join us let me know.
