Jerry,

Had to print that one for Lina.  We have a "friend" here in our abode and I am a bit ambivolant about it but daughter Sarah gets a bit spooked.  Lina has learned to accept it and we often wonder if it may be....

Have yet to attempt any fly tying with our visitor as it seems not to take interest.  I must say the mountain lion scream while fishing Cedar at dusk and the (Rattlesnake Rock on Pine) beaver tail slap, feet away in full dark, during the drake hatch did scare my buddies efficiently though.

Carp fishing was one of my favorite sports while I was in college during my summer breaks and after I got out of college in the late 70's.  My grandmother lived just outside of Chesapeake City, MD, and we used to go down and visit here on weekends.  My church was the banks of the Bohemia River or a spot dubbed the "back basin" in Chesapeake City right off the C and D canal.  Most of the carp I caught were in the 5 to 10 LB range though I hooked one monster in the "back basin" that was probably close to 35 lb., maybe larger.  I'd fought it for a good 20 minutes, and just as I beached it the hook popped out. I literally dived on that fish and wrestled it up on to dry land.  I had a heck of a time lifting it, and realized it was just too big to keep so I let it go.  Even caught my first striper in that spot. On corn.  I was reeling in the line and the striper hit it on the way in.  It was a great spot, but one morning I was fishing there in the hour before dawn, and I felt like someone was staring at me I turned around and there was a cat staring at me, it eyes illuminated by the almost full moon.  It spooked me to and I tossed a stone at it and it scatted.  A few minutes later I had that feeling again.  I turned around expecting to see the cat but saw a woman dressed in a white nurses uniform.  She didn't say anything, just shook her head and then walked slowly and silently down the road.  Maybe 30 seconds after she left a car came down the road.  I looked to see where the woman was and the road was empty.  I packed up my gear as fast as I could, and never went back to that spot.

No, but did I ever tell you about the PA State record carp caught in front of my cabin?  That was back in the 50s or 60s by the fish warden himself.  In his retirement, I (then in high school) used to walk down to the dam in from of my cabin anytime from 3 a.m. to dawn and speak to him on any Sunday with good weather.  His old record was 48" if I remember or something close.  BUT...
