Yeah, but it was in India, no other reported issues, and as Snopes said, very likely off-brand battery.  I'm more concerned that it will explode when it falls in the river, thus, I never take my phone on the river with me (actually, because I want to relax, so it doesn't go with me).

There, it's fly fishing related!

See story below about a cell phone that was being recharged exploding on the young man while he was taking a call.  I thought this was a HOAX, but when I checked it out with Snopes Urban Legends,  they say the story  is TRUE.

Even though it's a remote possibility that this will happen, I Will Never again use my cell phone while it's charging.  Click on link below for info from Snopes.

A few days ago, a person was recharging his cell phone at home.  Just at
that time a call came and he answered it with the instrument still
connected to the outlet.  After a few seconds electricity flowed into
the cell phone unrestrained and the young man was thrown to the ground
with a heavy thud. His parents rushed to the room only to find him
unconscious, with a weak heartbeat and burnt fingers.  He was rushed to
the nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Cell phones are
a very useful modern invention. However, we must be aware that it can
also be an instrument of death.
