We had speckled trout (in the saltwater) in FL, and I always wondered if
they stayed in the salt water or Migrated or what, cause I never caught any in a
fresh water river or creek, but did catch them in the "brackish" water where the
river spilled into the bay, so if was half and half, Chuck

Here on Prince Edward Island (east coast) the
majority of our trout - both speckled and rainbow spend winters in the ocean
and summers in the rivers and streams. This is not true for all as some spend
more time in the ocean and shorter times in rivers and streams - during
spawning.
