Jimmy, or Tony, or whoever would know... I fly fish by casting out as far as
I want, then I twitch strip the line in 4-6 inch twitches, then when a fish
takes It I usually just pull it in by hand. But can you strip an automatic
reel or is it all or nothing with the pull of the trigger??? Also, Don O I
found that spring tightening dial you told Me about just now the hard way
LOL.. I'm sitting here with no shirt on, and I tighten that dial up a bit,
pull out about 20-25 ft of line, Pull the trigger, and that thing like to
have beat My chest to death.. I have whelps all over My chest LOL....
Ouchhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Chuck,
who thinks he better google in a "How to guide" on automatic reels

was a kid, but don't use it any more. The automatic rewind feature was
handy sometimes, but basically, if you use your reel to store the line that
you are not casting, a regular simple action reel may be just as easy to
use. I did take the cover off of mine several times to clean and re-oil
it. You will need to keep the spring under control when you take the cover
off. The reel should have a button on it to release the tension on the
spring, but you will still have to deal with the spring if you take it out.
Good luck
